The Fin Fur and Feather team competes on Wednesday evenings at various locations against other teams in the Maspenock Handgun and Worcester County Pistol Leagues from September through April. Although we encourage members to participate each week that a match is held, we recognize that individual schedules may preclude that level of participation.
On match night, each team member shoots one match consisting of 30 rounds using a .22 caliber pistol and a one-hand grip. Rounds consist of:
Slow Fire – 10 shots in 10 minutes
Timed Fire - 2 strings of five shots in 20 seconds
Rapid Fire – 2 strings of five in 10 second.
The Team generally practices on Sunday mornings with team members honing their skills of one-handed shooting, concentration, and breathing in timed rounds simulating actual match experiences.
Periodically, an expert in Bullseye shooting will give a seminar which benefits shooters of all ability levels.
The Team has and welcomes shooters of all ability levels, so if you are interested in joining the fun and comradery, email rifleandpistol@finfurandfeather.us. There is a nominal fee to join which is designed to cover league dues, refreshments at the home venue matches, and supplies for the team.
